This spring semester I joined the Marketing Mix club, that is related to the College of Business of MSU. The club is formed by students with business majors. They organize meeting every other week in the Business Complex. If you want to became a member you have to pay a membership fee of 25 dollars, that will give you a T-shirt and also food in all the meeting.
I plan to keep going to the meetings and join the projects that are coming up. I went to 2 meeting that happened this semester since they came back from break and I strongly recommend for people who want to join an extra class organization and are in the business field.
Their purpose is to give students experiences in the business field as a general, it is not specific in marketing as it can appear, they provide the students the opportunity to deal with real market situations. They also provide useful hints and advices to students.
The projects are related with a small company from East Lansing or Okemos that has a specific need, this way a designated group of students that will be dealing with this company throughout the semester has to discover the need and work on it and bring a plan or solution.
Other aspect they covered was preparation for the Internship and Jobs Fair that is going to happen in a week from now, February 12. The vice-president gave us many useful hints about resumes, behavior during the fair, questions and answers to be prepared, how to show interest in the company, how to prepare before the fair.
